AWARD School 2010 kicks-off NSW
AWARD School Sponsor Google, AWARD Committee members, students, tutors and lecturers all came together last night to celebrate the opening of the 27th year of the ideas-based training program for aspiring Creatives. Speakers included AWARD Chairman, Richard Maddocks; Google Innovationist, Justin Baird; and AWARD School Heads, Rebecca Carrasco & Dustin Lane, who all inspired and terrified the new recruits with a run-down of what lies ahead over the next 16 weeks.
During the evening the 2010 lecturer line-up was announced, with big name CDs on the list such as Nick Worthington, Mike O’Sullivan, Warren Brown, Jonathan Kneebone, Matty Burton, Cam Blackley, Luke Chess, Ashley Ringrose, Peter Buckley, Tim Brown, Justin Drape, Scott Nowell and Ralph Van Dijk. Other lecturers this year include Justin Baird and Esther Clerehan – with a few more surprise additions to the creative line-up still to be announced.
After the lecture, the crowd continued on to the after-party at The Beauchamp where students met the tutors and lecturers who’ll be teaching them over the next four months. And in keeping with last year’s initiative to lower intake and tutorial numbers, there will be 20 tutorial groups of five students again this year, ensuring that the teaching experience is more comprehensive and enjoyable for everyone.
School Heads, Dustin Lane and Rebecca Carrasco said, “We’d like to say a personal thank you to all of the lecturers, tutors and agencies for their involvement. We couldn’t keep the tutorial numbers so low without the full support of the industry; it is much appreciated. We’re also thrilled to be able to offer the students such quality lecturers, so a big thank you to all who have agreed to give up their time and get onboard. Thanks also to Hannah from AWARD for all her hard work in helping to run the School over the past few years, and to Ray Black for his ongoing support.”

Wednesday October 21st, 2009
Google has today been named the new principal sponsor of AWARD School Australia and New Zealand, a 16 week course which teaches copywriters and art directors how to create big advertising ideas.
The partnership is founded on Google’s belief in creativity and innovation, and the importance this plays in creating effective and unique ways to connect with people.

Google's Head of Agency Relations, Guy Gibbs, says, "At Google, we develop tools to enable creative minds to implement their big ideas online. We want advertising creatives to play with Google's technology, to use it in new and unexpected ways and to make the most of the vast possibilities on the web. We're delighted to work with AWARD School which has such a long history of nurturing the generation of creative ideas."
